Tatum offers Dedicated API Keys as a flexible, high-performance add-on for applications requiring guaranteed throughput.

Core Requirements & Cancellation Policy

  • Active Paid Plan: You must have an active paid base plan to purchase Dedicated API Keys.
  • Independent Cancellation: Dedicated API Keys are managed as separate subscriptions.
🚧

Attention

Canceling or downgrading your base Tatum plan does not automatically cancel your Dedicated API Keys. You must manually cancel each key within the Dashboard to stop recurring billing.

Billing Model Overview

Unlike default API keys that consume monthly credits, Dedicated API Keys operate on a flat-fee, unlimited-usage model for a specific throughput capacity.

  • Fixed Monthly Cost: You pay a flat rate based on the Request Per Second (RPS) tier selected.
  • Zero Credit Burn: Requests made through a Dedicated API Key do not deduct credits from your base plan balance, allowing for predictable billing during high-traffic periods.
  • Tiered Scaling: Throughput is available in several public tiers via the Dashboard, with custom high-volume tiers available through our Sales team.

Subscription Independence

A key feature of Dedicated API Keys is their independence from your standard paid plan.

1. Separate Renewal Cycles

Each Dedicated API Key is treated as its own subscription. It has its own unique billing date based on the day of purchase, which may not align with your main plan’s renewal date.

2. Isolated Usage

Usage on a Dedicated Key is governed strictly by your RPS limit. It does not interact with the credit pool of your standard paid plan.

3. Plan Downgrades and Cancellations

If you downgrade your main account to a Free tier or cancel your base subscription, your Dedicated API Keys remain active. Existing keys will continue to provide guaranteed RPS and incur charges until their individual billing periods expire or they are manually cancelled.

Managing Throughput (Upgrades & Downgrades)

You can adjust the capacity of your dedicated keys directly via the Tatum Dashboard.

  • Upgrading RPS: When you upgrade to a higher throughput tier, the change is applied immediately. Your next invoice will reflect the pro-rated difference for the remainder of the billing cycle.
  • Downgrading RPS: To ensure you get the full value of your current tier, downgrades are scheduled for the end of the current billing period. The key will continue to operate at the higher RPS until the next renewal date.
  • Custom Tiers: For throughput requirements exceeding the standard public tiers, billing is handled independently.

How to Purchase

  1. Navigate to the API Keys section in your Dashboard.
  2. Click Get Dedicated API key Key.
  3. Select your target Blockchain and desired RPS Tier.
  4. Complete the checkout process. Your new key will be generated and billing will commence immediately.
📘

NOTE

An active paid plan (e.g., Growth) is required to complete this purchase.

Important Information

While you can use the Stripe Billing Portal to view past invoices and update payment methods, all upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations must be performed directly within the Tatum Dashboard. This ensures that throughput is correctly provisioned or de-provisioned.
