Tatum Billing Basics: How It Works
At Tatum, we aim to make billing straightforward and transparent. This article explains how our billing system works and what you can expect.
Billing Model: "Pay as You Go"
Tatum operates on a flexible "Pay as You Go" billing model, managed via Stripe. This allows you to choose between Monthly and Yearly subscription plans based on your needs:
- Monthly Subscription: Charges are automatically processed on your renewal date each month.
- Yearly Subscription: Offers the convenience of a single annual payment, which is also automatically charged on your renewal date.
Note
- The availability of Monthly or Yearly subscription options may vary depending on your region or country.
- You can review and manage your billing options at any time through your Tatum Dashboard.
Monthly Credit Limit and Reset
The default monthly credit limit resets every month on the same day your subscription was created. The default monthly quota for all plans is 4 million credits.
For example:
If you subscribe to Tatum on the baseline PayGo plan on January 4th, your monthly credit limit will reset on February 4th and every 4th day of the month thereafter.
Note
Monitor your credit usage in your Tatum Dashboard to avoid overage charges.
What Happens When You Exceed Your Monthly Quota?
If your usage exceeds this limit during any billing period, an Overage Charge will be applied automatically.
Overage charges ensure uninterrupted access to additional credits beyond your subscription quota.
Attention
Be mindful of Daily Charges.
Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. This includes subscription renewals and any overage charges.
- Please ensure your payment information in the Tatum Dashboard is up to date to avoid disruptions.

Note
Tatum reserves the right to change its payment provider at any time.
Legacy Yearly Plans (Before Jan. 7, 2025)
For some existing customers on legacy yearly plans, the billing behaviour differs from the current model:
- Instead of having a 4M monthly credit limit with overages, these plans provide a total of 48M credits per year.
- Credits are deducted from this yearly total, meaning you can use them at any rate until they are fully consumed.
- Once you reach the 48M limit, your yearly plan will renew rather than triggering monthly overage charges.
Attention
Legacy yearly plans apply to all subscriptions started before January 7, 2025. Any yearly plans created on or after this date follow the intended behaviour: after consuming 4M credits in a month, additional usage will be charged as a monthly overage.
If you are on a legacy yearly plan and prefer the new model, you may cancel your current plan and resubscribe to switch to the updated yearly plan with monthly overage billing.
This difference was due to previous platform limitations that have since been resolved. New yearly plans now support monthly overage charges after exceeding 4M credits.
If you’re on a legacy yearly plan and unsure about your credit limits, check your usage in the Tatum Dashboard.
